Birds of Paradise Plant Care

When I think of the birds of paradise, California, Hawaii and Singapore come to mind. The BOP is the definition of tropical. With their big, luscious large green leaves they add the perfect addition to any room that is in need of a tropical "vibe." Providing a instant transformation. Easy care, with bright indrect light, you will have a healthy and long life with your birds of paradise. Clients generally ask for the "banana leaf" plant, and we always know they are talking about the birds of paradise.

Water: During the Spring and Summer months, set up your birds of paradise on a regular watering schedule. Keep the soil moist, during their growing season. During the winter months, when your birds of paradise is dormant, allow the soil to dry in between waterings. Heads up, if your water has a high salt count, then you are at risk of yours leaves turning brown. In this case, simply place vase outside, collect rain water and use that for your waterings.

Light: Birds of paradise are an indoor tropical plant. For that they enjoy bright sunlight. Place your birds of paradise near in a spot in your home where it will get the most light. Bright indirect light is always best. If you do happen to notice the yellowing of the leaves, then that means it is getting too much sun exposure, and move to a spot with indirect light.

Humidity: Birds of paradise do well in a typical household humidity. What we recommend is weekly misting of the leaves, to help with moisture and added humidity.

Pet safe: The birds of paradise is toxic for dogs and cats, if consumed.
