My order still hasn't arrived! What do I do?
What are your planters made out of?
Excellent question! Our planters are not made of the traditional terracotta/clay/ceramic material. We found a custom sourced fibreglass compound that is the same material used in components of cars, kayaks and boats, hence why they are lightweight! We chose this material because of its characteristics of being durable (rated for -20 C/-4 F), its nonporous properties and it being overall a high quality material. Our planters are thick-walled and finished in outdoor durable paint, so they can used for outdoors and indoors!
I am confused on how to measure my plant to match your planters!
We gotcha, no need to worry! The easiest way is to measure its current nursery plastic pot. All you need to know is the diameter x height and use our size chart on all our product listings and you will be golden. Still feeling lost? No worries at all, send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will get back to you asap to help you out! The best rule of thumb is for your Hudson + Oak planter to be 2 inches larger than your current nursery pot.

How do I take care of my new Hudson + Oak planter?
We do use professional quality paint that can endure the elements, however due to their hand painted characteristics, they can be prone to scuffs, scratches and cracks if not handled with care. Use a damp cloth to gently wipe down any dirt marks that may have occurred on the planter.
Okay, you say they are lightweight, but will they blow away on my deck?
Trust me, I thought of this before until I actually held one of our planters. We like to be clear not to confuse lightweight with plastic as they are thick-walled and still have "some" weight to them. They are 1/3 times lighter than traditional terracotta and clay planters, meaning they are still stable and with a plant inside you are as golden as can be! Without worry they can sit on your deck and won't blow away. Well...unless there is a hurricane or massive wind storm, then please bring your planter inside so it is safe and sound. :)
Do you ever do custom painting/designs?
Heck ya, we do custom! There's a catch though...only custom colours! We love to stay with our modern planter designs, but if needed we will entertain the request of a custom colour. Don't hesitate to send us a message of what you are thinking!
Do your planters vary from each one one?
Yes! Each planter is lovingly hand painted here in Vancouver. Since each planter is painted to order and due to the artisanal painting of the planters, no two planters will be the same making your new planter one of a kind. Each planter is handmade and there can be a size variance, but we always try to get as close to as our dimensions on the product listings. If you have any questions about sizing about planters, please use the chat and someone from our team will be happy to help you! Please also allow for colour variance from computer screen to in person.
Are your planters suitable for outdoor use?
Due to the nature of the finishing of our design series, we do recommend for that specific collection to be indoors only. We do use outdoor rated paint on all our planters, but if you must have them outdoors, we highly suggest that they're kept under a covered patio and out of direct sunlight. Our planters are rated up to -20 C / -4 F.
Do you make drainage saucers?
Great question! At this time we do not make the saucers. If you are intending to use our planters for indoor use, then you would not get a drainage hole. That being said since you will not have a drainage hole, place a few pebbles or some gravel at the bottom of the planter prior to adding your plant and soil. This will keep the roots up out of any residual water and help to keep your plant healthy!
What is this "fake potting" you speak of?
One of our most popular questions! Okay, so fake potting means that you place your plastic nursery pot inside one of our planters. You do not actually plant your plant inside our planter. The reason we suggest this is for a few reasons a). easier to water b). to rinse/bath your plant (they need showers too!) c). you avoid root rot altogether. This process allows you to better water your plant without over watering it. As well as many species of plants prefer to be root bound (tight) such as our dear friend the fiddle leaf fig, so having them in their nursery pot ensures a healthy and happy life. One thing to note is that when it does come time during spring to re-pot, you simplly re-pot into a 2" larger plastic nursery pot, place it back into your Hudson + Oak planter and viola, you have a happy and healthy plant in it's A + planter!

We are dedicated to giving back 1% of our profits and time to local charities here on the West Coast. We also use 90% reusable + recyclable shipping materials, only reimburse plant-based expenses encouraging our employees to eat a plant based diet, and are avid recyclers. When it comes to our product, we order the correct amount of inventory so it's just-right so we don't create excess products or waste and the paint we use is environmentally friendly. Plus, our planters are made to last, meaning a longer lifespan keeps H + O in your home and not in the landfills.

Where do you ship to?
At the moment we ship to Canada + USA. However, we never say never so if you are international, send us a message and we can always look into a shipping quote for you!
How long will it take to receive my planter from the time I ordered it?
We paint all our planters to order. From start to finish your planter we are taking up to 10 business days as to allow ample time for your planter to properly dry. Our average processing time is 1-2 weeks. You will receive an email with your tracking number once it is shipped out. Canada shipping times are from 1-2 weeks and US shipping times are 1-2 weeks as well.
Are there standard shipping rates?
Our shipping prices are based on dimensional pricing and what is in the world is that you may ask? Basically, our rates are determined on the width, diameter, height and the weight of the box that they are shipped in. And you guessed it, since we only specialize in large planters then that means large boxes! All rates are found at the checkout. We hand pack every planter with various packaging materials to make sure that they arrive safely to you. We would love for you to help our sister out (Mother Nature) and recycle the box and materials upon arrival.
Where are you located and is there an option for local pick up?
Our studio is located outside of Vancouver. If you are local, then guess what? You have the option for local pickup when checking out.

What is your policy for lost or stolen planter shipments?
Hudson + Oak is not responsible for lost or stolen packages. It's recommended that you, someone you trust, or a robotic version of yourself, be present to receive your goods. If you have any concerns at all, please email us at email@example.com
Oh no, I entered the wrong shipping address what do I do?
No worries at all. Let us know asap and we will change it for you. :) Just hit reply on your order confirmation email. Please note we can only change shipping addresses before they have shipped. Once you have received your shipping confirmation email, we can no longer change your address and the expense of return shipping label/redirect is on the buyer!

Do you offer returns or exchanges?
Due to the nature of our product being individually created for you, we do not accept returns or exchanges. If you should have a question or concern please reach out to us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. We cannot stress enough to triple check your sizing before ordering as no return/exchange will be honoured for incorrect measurement of your plant!
Can I cancel my order?
We start processing orders pretty quickly. We paint to order and start the process straightaway so you get your new planter as soon as possible. We can cancel your order only 12 hours after placing it, after that we cannot cancel it. Send us a note asap!
