The rubber tree oh what a gem! It is the easiest of the ficus trifecta to maintain and keep alive! I feel like the rubber tree aka ficus elastica doesn't get the attention it deserves, so here she goes getting all then attention in this post! I had the pleasure of seeing the rubber tree in it's natural environment in Florida, and its was massive! It made me fall in love this plant all over again.
Water: In the summer time make sure to water your ficus elastica every 7 days. In the winter dormant conditions water once every two weeks. With the rubber tree you want a happy medium, not soggy wet but not bone dry. They like their soil a bit moist (ugh hate hate hate that word) but you get the picture!
Light: The rubber tree likes medium light, so doesn't need the brightest indirect light. A good east/south facing window will be perfect for bright natural light. Be careful thou, don't let your rubber tree get direct sunlight as it will burn the leaves.
Humidity: Native to the tropics, your rubber tree appreciates weekly misting of their leaves. The rubber tree will do well in the normal temps in your home!
Pet safe: Rubber trees are mildly toxic for humans and pets!
