The ZZ plant aka Zanzibar plant aka Zamioculcas Zamifolia, is easily one of our favourites. When looking at one you'll notice their shiny, glossy and deep green small leaves can often be mistaken for being fake. We kid you not this plant is "nearly" indestructible. Making the ZZ plant a real winner in our books. When you are in a shopping mall next, look around in the planters that are in the hallways, we can guarantee you the plant choice is defiantly ZZ plant. With it's low light requirements, and minimal watering, the ZZ plant is a perfect addition to almost any room in your home.
Water: Water occasionally, but allow the plant to dry out well between waterings. Water less frequently in winter and when the plant is growing in low light. When we say these are nearly indestructible, the main reason we have had clients is because of over watering, so keep it to a minimal!
Light: The ZZ plant enjoys indirect light. One common problem is yellow leaves, is this happens it means that your ZZ plant is getting too much light, resulting in the yellowing of their leaves. Have a corner with minimal light? The perfect home for your ZZ plant!
Humidity: The ZZ plant does well in a typical household humidity. What we recommend is weekly misting of the leaves, to help with moisture and added humidity.
Pet safe: The ZZ plant is toxic for dogs and cats, if consumed. Beware of coming in contact with any of the “juices.” The calcium oxalate crystals in the ZZ may cause skin irritation.
